High vibrations laced through Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX last night in anticipation of Brandi Carlile taking the stage with her band. Young, old, new fans and OGs filled the arena to celebrate a night of incredible music.
The Head and the Heart opened with a delightful seven song set. The iconic American indie folk band from Seattle, WA played their hearts out and ended with an interesting rendition of their mega hit, "Rivers and Roads," that had the audience on their feet.
After a brief pause between artists, eleven time Grammy winner, two time Emmy winner and #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Brandi Carlile emerged on stage with gorgeous deep red lighting and her guitar. She kicked off her set with "Returning to Myself," the title track of her latest studio album. The Americana legend wove through her extensive catalog while remaining attentive to her fans and delivering vocals and musical prowess like nobody else could.
Highlights of the evening were countless, but if one had to choose, they would be the following. Early into the set, Brandi took a cover request from a fan who asked that she play "Coat of Many Colors" by the late, great Dolly Parton. Not many eyes were dry after that one. About halfway through the set was the massive fan favorite "The Story" that had everyone singing loud and proudly along with Carlile. After a full nineteen song set, Brandi and band slam dunked the party with a three song encore. The Head and the Heart joined on stage for "Hold Out Your Hand." After their departure, Brandi and band played a sickening cover of Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited," followed by "A Long Goodbye."
The Human Tour is coming to a head with a final North American stop in San Diego, CA on September 22nd. From there, Brandi Carlile heads into her All Things Go Music Festival dates in Columbia, MD and Forest Hills, NY before taking the Human Tour overseas to Europe.
